Why Literacy? Literacy is a major correlate to academic, career, and financial success. Between 46% and 51% of American adults live below the poverty line because of marginal reading skills. (data provided by Literacy Project Foundation, National Institute for Literacy)
Our Mission: The mission of Literacy and Leadership Empowerment, Inc. is to equip students from distressed communities with strong foundations of literacy to help them achieve success success in school and career so that they become positive leaders of a more vibrant Baltimore Community.
Our Tutorial: LLE's  tutorial gives at risk students crucial tools for success!
Results: 
  • Since 2010, LLE Tutorial has served approximately 120 students yearly
  • LLE Tutorial offers 60 hours of expert, personal tutorials in our after-school program and 24 hours in the summer camp programs.
  • In just 8 months of after school tutoring, our students (K-6) achieve on average
    • 2.5 years in word attack skills
    • 1.4 years in reading fluency!
  • Students, parents, and tutors witness improved confidence, motivation, and leadership
Sustainability: A Replicable Model With Far Reaching Potential!
  • Our cost effective, replicable tutorial model is administered in partnership with exisiting after-school programs.
  • LLE Tutorial can be administered at schools, churches, or elsewhere to reach a great number of students across the city.
