Our Tutoring Method

At the heart of all our tutorials is personal attention to boost skills, confidence, and positive motivation of our eager young students. LLE provides a replicable, sustainable tutorial by training and working alongside community organizations to provide highly effective reading instruction in a personal setting.

Giving Baltimore City Youth Access to State of the art instruction

LLE's tutorials are a kid-friendly, streamlined adaption of the highly successful Orton-Gillingham tutorial used in primier programs including   St. Paul's Schools, Jemicy School, Friends School, Cathedral School, as well as in other prestigious programs nationwide.

This multi-sensory methodology is a robust application of the National Reading Panel of recommendations which calls for explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension.
LLE Tutorials are administered with the following features:
  • 60 hours of Orton-Gillingham based tutoring throughout the school year to help students build the strongest possible foundation of skills
  • Student assessments for individualizing student programs and measuring student progress
  • Personal, small group instruction with an average 6:1 student to teacher ratio
  • Training and on-site supervision for partnering organization staff by LLE reading specialists
  • Individualized instructional materials promoting hands-on student participation
  • Literacy enrichment activities including art, music, and acting skits
